Looking to replace my current motherboard (msi-770-c45), as I want usb 3 and I also want to overclock my x4 955, but this board is not too great for it, limited options and voltage does not seem too stable. Will spike to 1.5 or so from 1.4, under load and trying to compensate by lower vcore, just results in instability :(, so I guess it has to go.

Ideally new board will be

AM3+
USB3
6 Sata ports
Good overclocker
ATX form

Other than that, not really too fused on brand or other features. Budget is max £100, but cheaper options are always nice :).

So any recommendations? or budget too low for what I want?

Thanks :).

Quick bump and question. After doing some searching it would seem the Asus M5A99X will fit what I want and gets decent reviews, how ever the sabretooth 990fx is only £20 or so more, which I can stretch to and also gets good reviews.

So is the sabretooth worth the extra? Far as I can see main differences are the x16/x16 crossfire, some fan headers (sabretooth has more four pin), the TUF components and an extra x16 slot.

Thanks.

i understand those are the main differences. ive been looking to replace a dead am3 board and have gone for the M5a99X but i only require a reasonable overclock on a X6 (3.6 to 3.8 if i can) and i was looking to do it as cheap as possible whilst also upgrading my dead board. so 20 quid may mean less to you than me :) its also a bit cheaper if you shop around. picked mine up for £100 at the rainforest.

I want to get my x4 from 3.2 to 3.8, maybe 4.0. Coming from a budget board, either will be a decent upgrade. I see the m5a99x for £100, so that puts £30 between them. Can still go up to £130, I guess I just have to decide if the extra £30 is worth it for the few extras you get on it :).

I have a Sabertooth 990fx and can only sing its praises ..... top board for your AMD, real easy to overclock on my 1090t currently running at 4.1 rock solid :)

Think I might get a sabertooth then for the small amount more. Just wondering if you can have cool n quiet on and overclock. As on this board if you adjust the multiplier, then cool n quiet is automatically disabled. Not a deal breaker, but would be nice to have it clocked down when not in use :).

I cant answer that as I use a bay fitted fan controller for all the case fans and the H100 controls the ones for the radiator..

Well like I said, not a deal breaker, so I'll see when I get it. Ordered it today as it's on this week only for £130 which is cheapest I could find it elsewhere + I get free 24 hour delivery here :).
