whats a decent cooler for the stock retention thingy on an am3 socket?
i have a 1055t and get annoyed with the high pitched whine whenever it uses more than 3 cores and the fan decides to ramp up to 6k+ rpm...

im to lazy ro remove my motherboard and my cases tray doesnt have a whole on the back so i cant just switch out a backplate etc.

i dont OC and just require something half decent to keep the noise down , budget isnt an issue but the cooler must just swap straight out for the one ive got !

What sort of temperatures will that bring? As I'm getting 29 - 31c idle, 41c load with the stock AMD HSF. I'm currently humming and hawing between a big air cooler and the H70.

The one i linked should knock at least 6-7c off that as it did mine.

i fitted a Corsair A50 last night.

with Stock HSF i was idling in the high 40's and full load in the mid 50's
full load at 1454RPM = 37C :D
idles is around 29c
(core temp is around 10c off, i know easytune is pretty accurate because its getting temps directly from teh bios which arguably could be wrong but if stock HSF was only 12c from max temps for the chip it must be pretty accurate.
ifi ramp the fan up to 2k RPM which is the highest setting i get fullload temps of 34/35c

quite a massive improvement and much quieter but im only running stock , i did try a small oc to 3.4ghz and i was i got 39c running intel burntest for a few minutes but im just going to stack at stock clocks until theres a need to OC

i think my temps are so good for this heatsink because its a huge lian li a71a 5x 120mm fans (2 front , 3 rear)

easy as hell to fit aswell btw went on much easier than the stock HSF, i was putt off aftermarket coolrs from the amd XP/64 chips days when heatsinks were a right pain in the arse to get on !
