Decision 2

Just could someone help me out with the RAM decision?

I'm a bit worried about getting the ocz incase of instability.
The reason I chose the 'viper' was because OCUK have included it in this bundle, and I made the assumption that if OCUK have tested it with that board it must be ok.

Its just for the price and performance am I right the assume the OCZ stuff is better?

Anyway if someone could either suggest some awesome modules or justify one of the above?

Thanks to everyone that replies. This really is the best forum community on the web. :D

cheers

The cpu wont work with the motherboards, you will need the 710, 720 or 810 Phenom CPU'S.

AM2 Cpu's only work on AM2 boards, were the AM3 CPU's can work on either.

*stunned silence*

OMG im so stupid... I never even checked the socket. *eek* Thank you both. I would have wasted a lot of money. I thank both of you...

*my excuse is that I'm coming from a long line of intel, and that I was recommended that board on another post.*

So ok two things now.

Go with the tri core bundle and clock upto 4GHz?
wait for the AM3 Quad?

and what about the RAM?

Thank you again

The motherboard only claims to support up to 1333Mhz RAM or 1666Mhz with overclocking, so I think you can probably count that Patriot 2000Mhz RAM out.

The UD5P board is very good, the best I have had out of my 720BE is 3.75GHz, you will need an after market cooler imo to push it any serious distance as the stock cooler runs at the same temp as this Freezer 64 Pro has the system at under full load and I would rather spend a bit more and have the extra headroom in the temperature department!

AM3 quad is supposed to be the 20th, as I have posted else where so that is your call but the prices would be anyones guess! (so long as you don't mean the 810, that's already out!)

I have an OCZ Vendetta 2 in the house so i think temperatures will be ok :D

I wonder if the prices will be close to the current quad cores...

Your system at 3.7GHz how are you getting on with it. Games and other things. are you noticing a difference from any previous system?

and your RAM. Is that 4x1GB sticks?
