CPU not Motherboard
 
Best bang/buck i'd say at the minute is an Athlon II X4 620 which can be had for around £75. But as said it really depends on your usage, budget etc.
 
Then if budget isn't an issue, why not go for a Phenom II 965 or 955? They're the fastest two available.
