am3+ or fm2 ?

looking at building a pc.

the fm2 boards seem relatively cheap and good specs.

now do the cpu's overclock well or should i go down the am3 route.

i dont want to spend £150 on an intel cpu hence the amd section.
 
FM2 if you don't plan to have a dedicated GPU since they have wonderful onboard graphics. AM3+ if you plan to have a dedicated graphics card since the processing power is better.

I'm not entirely sure how well the FM2 APU's overclock, but I have heard a few people not getting "that high" clocks with them.
 
If you going a cheap performance root than I'd go for an AM3+ with an FX-6300. If you have a decent cooler you should get 4.5GHz+ out of it. Just make sure to buy a board with at least heatsinked VRMs or an 8+1 phase VRM.
 
already have a decent z68 board but only have a intel G550 cpu which i cant see being enough.

i was looking at a i3 2120
 
ok i managed to pick up a i3-2105 and a scythe Kozuti for £50.

could not turn that down.

hopefully it should be ok with the gtx 470
