I am just about to upgrade to a Gigabyte MA790FXT-UD5P mobo with AMD Phenom II X4 925 am3 and was wondering if my current cooling (Arctic pro64) is adequate or can anyone please recommend something for future proofing.

should be fine, the Arctic pros are good coolers and the new phenoms are surprisingly cool chips, if you plan to overclock at all then you might want to go for something a little beefier however.
