Just noticed a lot of gigabyte boards have been certified for AM3+ does that mean they are fully compatible with bulldozer?

Sorry but i've been out the loop regarding the new cpu's

" Get Ready for New Generation of 32nm AMD AM3+ CPU
GIGABYTE's AMD motherboards are ready to support new generation of 32nm AMD AM3+ multi-core processors, delivering the very best platform for multitasking, multimedia and high performance gaming."

Seems pretty clear to me, why would they put this on their MOBO website, if it wasnt true....

I'm pretty sure this is just future mobos however (they will be a new revision).

This means that if you currently have one of these gigabyte boards it will NOT be am3+ compatible.

I say this because AM3+ processors are, by hardware, incompatible with am3.

So do not assume your current mobo is am3+ compatible because it is not.

Also do not buy any of these yet as the shops will only have the old revisions in still (no am3+ support).

i wouldnt bet on it, not when asus have have already confirmed that a lot of their current range is already compatible

The a beta of the am3+ bios is out now for my m4a89gtd pro/usb3.

it has been mentioned that only gigabyte boards with black cpu sockets are/will be am3+ compatible, but some people do already have black sockets. it's not as straight forward with gigabyte as it is with asus, at any rate.

It does all seem abit cloudy at the moment.

AM3+ uses more pins. So cannot physically fit in a AM3 socket. AFAIK.

I'm guessing that we will see in a few days when some people start getting samples.
