Been thinking of upgrading to the new Thuban Phenom II X6, amds 6 core processor when its released.

These are my current specs,Do youthink it will be quite a big boost?

Q6600 @ 3.5Ghz|Asus P5Q SE P45|4GB 932Mhz|4890 1Gb Overclocked |XFI Extreme Fidelity|250 +500Gb HDD|CM 690|7 Home X64

Of course il be keeping everything thats been put in bold,Just replace the Cpu,Ram and Mobo.

I don't think you'll see a massive different at all. The CPU you have is plenty fast enough for most if not all of today's games and applications to warrant a change in platform.

There has been quite a few posts recently that want to "upgrade" to a different platform.

In this instance there will be negligible real world differences. Is there an ache to get some new tech? haha :-)

Well I'm on 775 and going to AM3. Not a massive leap in gaming, but it's not costing me much at all once I've sold the old kit, and the socket has a little more life in it yet, especially with Thuban chips coming tomorrow. There's also the fact that the high end motherboards are half the price of the intel ones! I mainly game, so going i7 doesn't really give me any more benefit.

I would agree with this, Keep your current set up for another year or so then maybe upgrade when your current system start having problems running the latest stuff

Im going from a Q6600 @ 3.6 GHz + HD 5870

to

Phenom II X6 1090T + HD 5870.

Already benched Q6600, ill link you to article on my site comparing differences if you like. Hopefully should be getting CPU on weds the way it looks like things are going with availability :)
