AM3+

hi
i have an aging mb and an athlon x4 and thinking about upgrading.
i have been looking at the AM3+ motherboards and processors. but not getting a new processor till i hear more about the new amd processors.
so does anybody know if ill be able to put an AM3 processor into an AM3+ motherboard?

just wanting to ugrade to something that will be a bit more future proof instead of just going straigh for a six core
