AM4 Broken plastic CPU Bracket

You bought a whole new motherboard just to replace the plastic mounts for the CPU cooler? You can buy them pretty much anywhere and they screw into the backplate. No need to buy a whole new motherboard.
No, i broke the plastic AM4 CPU base connector that the CPU sits on then get locked down with metal lever, nothing to do with the motherboard backplate.

If it is the AM4 retention brackets, you can buy them from most online places like Amazon.
I sourced one from somewhere for around £5, not 100% sure it will install ok as ive never done it before and its very fiddly around the socket to lock it down without damaging the mobo CPU pins. Ill try though luckily its only a A520 board and not a top end board.

"The plastic shroud can be changed but it can be quite fiddly and it is fragile.

This is the problem i will try and fix, just got to wait for delivery

This makes more sense.

The retention tabs are mostly what hold the plastic shroud in place (minus a few tabs on the other edges). However, it looks like the left retention clip is damaged already and this is part of the CPU socket that's attached to the motherboard. Can you check that more in-depth or take more images from different angles?[/url

Ive accepted that its more than likely unrepairable tbh, like i said it was a cheap mobo. It could have been so much worse if it was a high end board.

Not at all :), the metal lever was very hard to move and stuck to the underside of the board. I guess i was heavy handed trying to release it :D. The plastic shroud then split at the side, so i then took it all off as it was damaged anyways. Lesson learnt ive built my own PCs for over 20 yrs and this is a first for me as well. As mentioned i got the A520 on a black friday deal for £53 i think, its not the end of the world. When the Foxconn AM4 plastic shroud arrives i will try and repair but i'm not expecting it to be a success. I have just finished building my sons first PC this afternoon and i used a Prime B450M-k II a bit better specs than the broken A520 tbh.
