Hi all,
Quick one - if I wanted to spend 30-40 on an AM4 cooler what's the best to go for? I will be OCing so best performance possible for my budget is needed.
the stock cooler is good for a mild overclock, so unless you're going for max clocks, just stick to the stock cooler.
if you are going for max clocks, then don't cheap out on the cooler
do you want an air cooler or aio water cooler?
some bigger air coolers may have ram clearance issues depending on how tall your ram heatsinks are - just be aware
The stock cooler on my Ryzen 1700 handled a 3.7ghz overclock on all cores fine. After that you will quickly need much better cooling as the voltage needed to go higher rises rapidly.
