Amazing Next-gen PC Graphics

looks very good yes, but after seing GRAW slow right down when i simply blew up a tank, im worried, as i said in other topics, noticably to dirtydog, it doesnt matter what framerate the game is, ASLONG as it doesnt inflict on the gameplay, if they get that playing at a playable FPS il be impressed

I jsut watched that vid, its amazing stuff, I wonder what it was running on in the vid ?

I cant imagine anything out now being able to handle that at a good frame rate. Maybe thats what a 360 with all the cores going could produce ? I dont know, I hope so, that to me is truly 'next gen' what ever that means any more.

Those effects are created using DX10, whilst Xbox360 has a hybrid (dubbed 9.5) so the PC version will look better, the 360 version will still look excellent though, albeit, not like that.

True, but won't you need a true DX10 graphic card and Windows Vista OS?, not cheap?

A nice way to promote Vista for gaming imo. Rather wait until the game is actually out and running before I get excited about upcoming tech.

To most people though, they're not really going to notice the difference in real terms, with all that stuff going on, they're going to be more worried about how the hell they're going to survive a squad of marines trying to kill you rather than why the blades and leaves have minor differences in their shadows!

:p

DirectX is just an API, there's no DirectX in a 360 or equivelent of, principally because its a unified system, only reason we have DirectX in PC's is as a layer between the app and the graphical driver.

Good news but i cant see the 360 handling this level of graphics,, I mean come on it doesnt even play GRAW or Oblivion with a decent framerate,, I hope that the developers find some way of optimising the 360,, looks like its bitten off more than it can chew with the last few releases i bought :(

i would say its down to programing not power it will take a while until we see the best from the 360 its still very eairly days

Look at any console and see the difference in quality from first to later games

I think that the 360 is producing some great games i admit that some have minor fram rate drops from time to time but nothing thats spoils the game and this will improve with time
