Amazon buys Twitch for $970 million

Indeed. Google would have made twitch a lot worse, I'm glad it was Amazon. Hopefully they do good things.

Definitely better than google, no doubt google would have had google+ account required like youtube comments :(

Be interesting how it goes, the small thank you letter thing sounds like they are hopeful of not losing too much control.

wonder how this will affect copyrighted music in streams as this was one of the main objections for google taking over.

Its frightening how much money companies like these have to throw around, props to the twitch guys tho, all their paydays came at once :)

I will never understand how these sites which could drop off the internet at any time are worth stupid amounts of money

Copyrighted music was removed from vods a couple of weeks ago and took the form of 30 minute sounds segments being removed from the vods at parts where the music was found but twitch claim it wont affect live stream and streamers are free to do as they see fit but remind them their vods will be censored.

It's cornered the market of something that has only shown growth year in year out and now has tens of millions of regular visitors... do the math.

Makes sense. For starters Amazon already has the content distribution side of the business sorted with its S3 system for example.

Amazon is a great company to work with, unlike Google.

I made much more money on Google however one day they just shut my adsense account down without any explanation. Poof, Gone, no rules broken. Google periodically decides it doesn't want small businesses or individuals to make money, does an animal update (panda, penguin etc) and poof, their sites rank in the millions+.

Amazon on the other hand, if you follow the rules, which don't change, no issues.

Congrats to the twitch owners, it's been a pretty stable service with a tonne of great gaming content. I've also enjoyed watching some cs:go / dota streams over the *ish on tv.

I can imagine the integration of using Google hangouts and being forced to sign in with your Google account, so everyone's real name will be visible lol.

Instead you'll need to sign into your Amazon account, and be spammed with adverts and amazon prime offers? Why do people think Amazon would be better than Google?
