Amazon Fire 10 battery usage

I've just bought one of these tablets and the battery seems woeful.

I charged it yesterday and unplugged it before I went to bed. Overnight it went down from 100% to 75%. I used it for about 10 minutes this morning and it has now gone down to 33%. All of this whilst being on standby (not turned off) with the screen off.

I'm used to my iPad which loses virtually no battery charge whilst locked. Is this normal for a Fire or is mine wonky?

How is the battery if you leave it with wifi off or in air plane mode? Some devices drain badly if the wifi signal is weak.
Check in the settings to see if it tells you which apps are draining the battery.

I had this problem, if you run an adblocker like pihole that does network level DNS ad blocking and it blocks device-metrics-us.amazon.com the Fire tablet continually tries to connect and flattens the battery within 24 hours. Allow this through and the battery usage improves it will never match an ipad but it can go a few days of light use without needing a charge.

Thanks for your suggestions. I am indeed using pinhole, so I’ll look into getting that sorted and see how I get on.

Definitely not normal, like others say, it sounds like its searching to make a connection which is eating the battery.

I use mine for a weekly commute to watch Netflix, Amazon and Iplayer. I turn off Alexa and Wi-Fi and it increases battery life by quite a bit.

Used on average 2 hours per day for 5 days and screen must be on 75%+ brightness. It usually lasts just about a week (can be more) on one charge. However, I do not game or use any other applications though.

Well, the pihole suggestions above solved the battery problem. However, I’m left with a device that drops it’s WiFi connection roughly every 30 seconds and takes another 30 seconds to reconnect. I’ve tried it on 3 different networks, so I can’t see it being anything to do with my home network. I might return it for a replacement.
