Hi,

Daughter had a Hudl2 for her birthday in 2015. It had constant power issues and stopped working completely before 12 months was up. Died again middle January but by the time I got in touch with Tesco it was 3 days over the 3 month repair warranty.

They are offering £40 due to the fact it's borked with a known issue, so it cost me £70 for about 13 months use :(

Tablet Fire 7 16GB is on offer.

My question is, I've never used a Fire, always standard Android tablets and we don't use Amazon. Can I still use it with the googlemail account and normal android play store?

For the price I can't fault it but it's slightly smaller than the huddle, my issue is that my daughter has her favourite apps etc from the play store and I'd like it to run the same as the hudl2.

No, it uses Amazon's app store which honestly while does have a big collection, is missing quite a few from the Google store.

How much are you willing to spend? The Nvidia Shield K1 tablet is very good and has excellent support (Android 7 Nougat has recently been rolled out), but it costs around £170 odd.

Up to the £100 mark really, it's just this was on offer.

she's 5 so it's mostly kids youtube, learning apps and some games.

Wife's written the this one off because the screen is too small anyway, but my worry was the store so it would have been no good anyway. thanks for the info :)

I got a couple Lenovo tab2 tablets for my kids 5/7 and loaded with youtube kids, these tablets are pretty durable been dropped loads, messy fingers, I also got some cases from ebay to match the colors and help to make the stand when watching videos.

Amazon fire tablet doesn't receive the official youtube apps as far as i'm aware, had to use a 3rd part one for my dads Fire tab.

I have a Fire 7 inch 16gb tablet my kids use, flashed it with one of the many custom ROMs available on XDA and it's awesome!

My kids use Fire Tablets, and are in the Fire for Kids sandbox which is really good. They love Sky Kids, the BBC kids apps, Minecraft and Terraria. Can't say there is anything that is missing in the Amazon Appstore for them that I've noticed.

Incredibly easy to get the Play Store working on a Fire tablet. Mrs undergroove has one of the new Fire HD 8 tabs and it works a treat with Play apps (apart from Inbox by Gmail, but normal Gmail app works fine).
