Amazon firestick issue

Hey guys,

Wonder if any of you can help. I'm on my 2nd firestick as the first ones remote stopped working and also I noticed when I turned it on from sleep mode...the home screen was blank and nothing was coming up like it normally does.

So now my 2nd one is doing it. Only way I can get it to work is by restarting the firestick through the menu or physically turning it off from the plug.

Any ideas or solutions on how to stop this from happening. Wifi signal around the house is strong so I don't think that's the issue.

No it's plugged into a free hdmi port and then plugged into a wall plug.

Yep I've noticed it runs pretty hot as well. Anyhow it's probably a software issue but can't see anywhere to install a new updated version.

Anyhow now after using it, I just turn off the wall plug.

I haven't got those options on my firestick. I've got the system icon but once I go in there, there is no option to do a system update.

Saying that, I just had Netflix prompt me for an update which installed. Will see if that fixes the issue where when I turn it on, nothing comes up in the home screen part.
