Amazon-like email scams

Oddly the only email address I've had these to are to the email address linked to Amazon, I've got like 8 other email address @ the same domain, none of them have received any and the default routing never forwarded on any so it seems somehow they must've got a bunch of email accounts from Amazon.

I've had emails to 2 of my 3 accounts also, 1 of which gets used only for job related stuff so god knows how they've got that email address.

My email account blocks spam messages getting through to my inbox, why doesn't VB have a similar feature so I don't have to see other people's spam emails? :(

They are called eyes, and *should* be connected to a sophisticated computational device called a brain. Using these two devices in conjunction allows fully functional human beings to be able to distinguish visual cues, including text on display devices. The brain portion then filters the information and allows the user to select items which may be of interest.

I'd suggest an raising an RMA

I received one in my mail today and I knew straight away it was a scam email. Didn't click on download my order here details. Could have caught me out as I'd bought an Ebook of amazon earlier that week.

My poor mother... She calls me and says she needs to contact Paypal because they tell her in an email there are suspicious transactions on her account.
I ask her if she has ever created an Ebay or Paypal account... She says no... I hang up the phone and wait for her to call back :O

The last bit isn't true but id love to be do that one day.

Not had one yet, but I guess I will.

Personally, I have my inbox set so that I only receive messages from people in my contacts list. I get dozens of junk emails a day and they go straight to the junk folder.

The only downside being some legit mail goes into junk too - but I can live with that. It is easy enough to identify and move :)

Mostly I get ones from Fedex, or UPS, or some African millionaire who needs help and just happens to have my email address, or viagra, or pr0ns, or dating etc etc.

Never had one from amazon. Butni have had one from paypal requesting i pay for the item before they will post it...
The funny thing was i didnt even buy anythig :D

Not that you know about..... :p

I actually had my Paypal account hacked. Luckily, my account settings meant I had an email immediately after the transaction, and I logged in and changed my password.

Still not sure how they got it, but they did!

The other concern is they may have filched some of my bank/personal details, but Paypel tends to star out most of the numbers.

I get one almost every day from battle.net saying my guild wars 2 account has been caught doing naughty things like smuggling children into Cambodia.

I don't even have guild wars 2. It all looks reasonably legit, coming from a battle net looking email account.

But the hyperlink on the page saying that it goes to the secure battle net place, goes to some ridiculously long URL which i would only click on if i was under a lot of peer pressure from my mate Dave.
