So with the news that Amazon music have extended to 100m tracks now. Is anyone else switching over from Spotify?

I'm a little torn, i love Spotify and have loads of songs in my various playlists etc and Amazon is limited to "shuffle" only so unable to play specific tracks, although this doesn't bother me *too* much. The thought of savings the £18 i spend on a family account is pretty tempting though!

The only reason I hadn’t switched was the limited selection of songs but definitely tempted. I think the only time I have picked specific songs on Spotify is when showing someone else a song that I think they might like. The rest of the time I'm listening to an artist, station or my liked songs on shuffle.

Though don't look forward to transferring my 500+ liked songs across.

Shuffle only? No then.

That's the only thing holding me back, but then i'm trying to think of how many times i look for a specific song and it's certainly not many.

Going to try and use it for a couple days and see how it goes. I think the most important part for me will be the curated playlists, i do love the Discover Weekly/Release Radar options on Spotify.

I found an app once that transferred playlists from one provider to another, had to use it to copy over from Spotify to Apple Music when the apple watch wouldn't handle offline Spotify playlists. It was pretty seemless. Just googled and it was called SongShift :)

you can create playlists though, with just a few songs, so shuffle is not an inconvenience ? .. I've used soundiiz to transfer playlists, but can't export to excel

Not planning on moving from Spotify - several useful features and for my tastes a slightly better catalogue of music than Amazon.

I've recently tried out Apple Music and Amazon Music in addition to my Spotify account, and man, the Apple Music and Amazon Music apps are pants in comparison

I'll continue using the Amazon Music app as it allows me to play Dolby Atmos music on my Sonos system - Apple doesn't.

Been using Amazon this morning and so far i'm slightly inclined to agree, unsure if it just needs more time because i'm so used to Spotify, but there is a few limiting factors.

The other issue being it'll take a while to "learn" my musical tastes and it'll be interesting to see how long that takes. No option to Cast to Google Home from the web browser either which i like about Spotify.

Amazon and Apple both struggle with casting to devices.

AirPlay does help, but it doesn't let you stream their high res music as far as I could tell, even on Sonos.

Slight tangent but swore by Spotify for years and years, then when I took a VPN Youtube premium membership, I tried out their musical offering and after a few days, promptly dropped Spotify. For me, it's been just as good with the occasions I couldn't find what I wanted being in single digits. It's not as refined an app/interface as Spotify but the price difference between the two makes up for it.

Most importantly, it has a function similar to Spotify's weekly recommendations which is where most of my new music discoveries came from with my limited time.

I would try Amazons offering but I just cancelled my Prime after about 8 years.

I'd say 80%+ of our Spotify usage is someone in my house waking up to an Alexa device and asking it play a specific track.... So probs nah.

Wait, do you guys pay the full price for Spotify? I pay for Spotify family for like a few quid a month. Not sure I'm allowed to say how on here. Fairly obvious though.

everyones on holiday in a South American country grace of their VPN.

.. I use Tidal, one day I'll try spotify
...seems Amazon HD tracks are part of Amazon music, you pay extra in Tidal .... Amazon clearly trying to wipe out the opposition from their tax free Island.

While I do have Prime (not unlimited), I rarely use it for music. I still tend to go for Spotify free if I'm not listening to my own purchased music. With an adblocker I never hear any adverts on my PC so it's as good (for me) as a paid sub.

Nah I switched from amazon to spotify because amazon was trash, always advertising stuff to me when I just wanted to play music.

Unfortunately spotify has started doing that now too, so might have to ditch that and just not have music?
