Hi guys I just started using prime video for first time and it says I can't use hd because of an error something about hdcp.

I have tried latest firefox and crome and still getting same error.

I read I should check my nvidia control panel and that says both my screen and my computer are good. But it does have a padlock in the middle saying repeater.

Is this because Im running through my home cinema?

I have never seen anything like this before first time I heard of this kind of protection. Obviously everything Im trying to do is legit just wanna watch prime with my pc.

What graphics card are you using?

I'm guessing your video card isn't HDCP 2.2 compliant and that's what Amazon Prime is looking for.

It's basically a form of harware DRM, not sure if it's something you can enable in the control panel.

Graphics cards is gtx 1080, tv is Panasonic st50 and home cinema is the bt330 that I bought at the same time as tv.

I have been using this system for years and never seen an issue like this, first time I heard of this hdcp stuff was yesterday trying to play video on Amazon.

Netflix works fine as does everything else I have ever tried.

I actually got it working last night but it seems like a lot of hard work. For some reason when I ever I go to play a video on Amazon my screen switches off for a second then comes back.

I actually got it working by turning the tv and cinema system off and back on and then playing the video. But as soon as I try to watch another video it drops back to sd with the hdcp error. Somemtimes I am having to turn my whole system on and off a couple of times to get it playing it HD.

It seems to be losing the signal to my tv for a second whenever I click on an Amazon video and I guess this is what's causing the error. This isn't an issue with any other websites.

I have tried firefox and crome same issue.

Any ideas how I would fix this?

What happens if you connect your PC directly to the TV? Can you use the Audio Return Channel?

Yeah I did test going direct into tv and yeah it worked fine.

I suppose I could swap the hdmi's round and use ARC when I wanna watch amazon prime for the night.

I don't know how well this tv passes sound back through because I never used ARC much. I think it might only be 2 channel.

If I remember rightly arc should just pass through whatever it receives?

A lot of the older models are limited to 2 channel I think and even newer models are limited on what formats are passed through.

From what I read the new version of ARC named eARC which is coming out soon can pass anything straight through.

If you are connecting via a HDCP 2.2 compliant HDMI port then try reconnecting it. Sometimes it just needs to renegotiate the handshake between both ports.

I get the same issue if I try and watch Prime on my PC versus the TV.

Ok so I should just be able pull the hdmi out of back of tv and put it back it again. Thanks I will try that next time because that would actually be a lot easier then keep turning everything on and off until it works.

Also worth checking the Nvidia control panel as well for HDCP status.

Yeah status says good both ends on my nvidia control panel.

Something wierd happens though when browsing the videos on amazon site when I click on a movie to look at my screen goes black like I have changed inputs then pops back up again. This is before I have clicked play or anything like that still just reading info on the movie. Normally the only time my screen would go off and come back on like that is if I am switching resolution on a game. But I'm not switching resolution or anything not even going full screen just sat on web browser.

Hopefully you guys get what I meen or I could do quick video.
