Hi,

Possibly in the wrong section, but I thought it was more likely to be answered sooner in GD. Mods feel free to move if needed.

Does anyone know if it's possible to gift someone an Amazon Prime Subscription? Be this for a period of X months or a full year?

I've only found details on Amazon.com and prices in $ but nothing on .co.uk to give me a clear answer.

Cheers

There is an option in the USA to buy Prime as a gift but you can't do it in the UK.

Looking around on the net some people say that you can't use a gift card to purchase a subscription as it needs a valid debit or credit card to purchase any subscription however reading the below:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html/?nodeId=201936990

There doesn't seem to be anything here that suggests you can't use it to buy a subscription, but it may be worth double checking with customer services.

Well, after a webchat it's a no on both accounts.

That is you can't gift a subscription, nor can you pay from Prime using a gift card.

They've certainly missed a trick here :(

Iv'e inadvertently signed up for a trial of Prime after buying headphones.
I knew straight away i clicked the wrong button so hit the back button but an email came through instantly welcoming me to Prime...doh

If it's the 30 days trial just cancel it in your account now so you don't get billed at the end.

I think your best option if you can is to sign into their account, use your card to buy the prime subscription and then remove your card from the account once it's all been paid for.

I thought i'd seen prime subscription pre-paid cards in the supermarkets. But based on the above, i'm guessing these were likely just gift cards.

I'm quite surprised they couldn't do anything for you. Amazon love to make money and not having the ability to purchase prime for someone else seems a real gap in their market. Might be worth an email to higher up - but a change is unlikely to happen in time for Christmas.
