Amazon Prime Video really choppy for anyone else?

I've just started using Amazon Prime video since it changed from Lovefilm to watch the Vikings TV series, but it's been really choppy, it stops to buffer a lot, and when it does it often skips the program forward, sometimes by as much as 20-30 minutes, then it rebuffers when I drag it back to find where it was meant to be.

Getting really sick of it, as I don't have this issue with other streaming services like Youtube, Netflix or iPlayer.

Been using it about a year now and it's pretty smooth. Only time I get juddering is when the weather is bad and my internet goes a bit poop.

Inconsistent performance for me on different devices:
Xbox one - quality fluctuates regularly with the resolution dropping from 1080
Smart TV - better than Xbox but still occasionally drops resolution
Ps4 - best of all three, most of the time stays in 1080
Internet connection is 40mb fttc so more than fast enough, and Netflix on all devices is rock solid

I've tried it loads of times off an on and the quality and consistency is not in the same league as Netflix.

Never really had a problem with it as such but compared to netflix it will often drop out of HD or randomly drop to minimum quality for 30 seconds or so 2-5 times in an hour of watching to the point I don't bother buying HD content on there.

I get 74.5/18.8 flat out any time of day on FTTC and no problem streaming even higher bit-rate content elsewhere.
