Ambers silent?

I bought some Akasa Ambers (120mm) after searching here for recommendations, but i find them to be far from silent :s
I currently have them plugged in using the molex, mobo thing.

I am looking for some case fans that are silent but shift a good ammount of air around the case,
they are for 2 purposes:
1) 2x to put on a RAD
2) 3x to put on the case

I am redesigning my setup so that there are 2 fans blowing air in from the top of the case, and 1 blowing air in from the front.
The RAD is mounted on the back pulling the air out the case

I was thinking of volt modding the Ambers to slow them down, but with the dust filters in the way restricting airflow is it really a good idea?

volt mod sounds well extreme for a fan :P cant u just turn them down via mobo if it has a 75%/50% fan setting, or buy a fan controller and hook them all up?

I've just done a bit of research on silent fans, as I needed 9x120mm fans for my soon-to-arrive Mounatain Mods U2-UFO. I took the plunge at the weekend and spent just under £70 on 9 Sharkoon Silent Eagle 1000rpm fans. I tested them all on at the same time, and I could hardly hear any noise. That was with them all sat on the floor, so not inside a case!

They also look pretty cool with a black frame and white "golf ball" effect blades.

Just volt mod the ambers to 7v. I have one 12cm amber and it's quiet in a gaming machine, although for htpc probably want to reduce it down a bit.

5 minute job for volt mod, and saves you buying more fans.

the fact you have dust filters on will create extra noise, and restrict airflow as it is. i have 120mm abmers in my akasa eclipse and all i hear is a very quiet 'hum'

There are no fans that are silent and shift a lot of air, The less air they shift the quiter they will be. Very good one too try out are Nexus also known as Yate Loons.

I have 3 Nexus 1000rpm's on a 12.03 rad. Even at full volts they are almost inaudible. They really are almost silent. And they look good too with a black surround and white blades (like the Sharkoons).
