ambient lights on back of tv's: worth it?

I got a cheap blue cathode light, plugged it into the back of my pc and tacked it to the back of the tv(well on the wall) looks nifty and rests the eyes.

I've just ordered an "Apollo Lighting Kit With 2x15" Light Bars". Its suppose to be the daddy of ambient lighting kits for the home.

-> 3 Light Transition Modes
-> Fixed Solid Colour Mode
-> Supports up to 6 light bars
-> No heat generated from the kit
-> 5 preset brightness settings from full to very low/dim
-> 7 memory spaces to save your best colours to Recall your saved colours at the touch of a button (fade to colour)
-> IR Remote Control
-> Light Pulse Mode (breath)
-> RGB Blending (Mix your own colours using 6 RGB Buttons from the remote)
-> 1 Million colours
-> Timer Function (lights turn off after 1-5 hours use)
-> Various sizes of LED tube available
-> Easy to install with improved mounting hardware
-> 32 button credit card size remote control
-> IR Receiver on cable so can be moved
-> Brighter LED Lights
-> 50,000 Hours Life per LED
-> Set the colour temp of white (3500k, 5500k, 6500k or 8500k)
-> Speed control for light filter

Not bad i suppose for £58

I've got the ones from the above mentioned store on the back of my 42" plasma and they really do look the part, if you've got money to spare and dont plan to use it on anything else i think backlighting is a nice addition. I have better pics but this is one i can get access to from my work..:D

Nice pic, lights look really good. Hard choice tho as the apollo kit might put out a bit more light, and be more fiddly to play with which is great.

your choice but just to let you know these lights are really bright, because i have a dark brown tv unit it dulls it down a fair bit....i'm sure you could probably get similar lights elsewhere for a more reasonable price
