I remember when it was just full of old movies, now its got the hottest shows, Walking Dead, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Hell on Wheels.
I haven't had chance to watch The Killing yet, but im sure it will be of the same standard.

Yep - TV over the last 10 years or so has got epically better on the cable channels, where all the 'mainstream' channels are now full of regurgitated reality nonsense HBO, AMC etc are making some quality high-budget programming with excellent production values

AMC and HBO aren't broadcast over here because they're subscription only channels.

Subscription channels aren't bound by service remits and so can put a portion of their cash into quality drama and comedy programming, and don't have to worry about meeting a diverse range of audiences.

The downside to that is, and what many British viewers are unaware of because we only see the good stuff, is that in between those great shows channels like HBO, AMC and Showtime fill up their broadcast hours with reality TV, films, softcore porn and sport. Oh and repeats. They repeat their top shows on a daily basis.

Still, it's that subscription service which allows them to deliver high quality series'.

They also did the fantastic Rubicon which didn't get anywhere near the appreciation it deserved. Quietly brilliant, that show.

Did Rubicon go past the first series? Watched it on BBC2 of all channels when it was broadcast over here - brillant show...
