just installed 12.8, just been on desktop/net, mrs came home been chatting to her for about an hour went back upstairs to be faced with BSOD, code 124 which i believe is a overclock issue/low vcore????? anyone else????

BSOD code 124 is most likley vcore related! Try bumping it up a touch and take it from there.

Yep i had a few of those bsod and it turns out my cpu vcore was too low.

I did think as much but is that good at stock settings?? Surely when its sold it should just run...period.

Only apply OC when gamming and no problems

Playing around with the Cpu PLL voltage as been known to cure it in some cases allthough! more than likely your voltage is a touch too low for your overclock.

Bit more info for ya.
This has only happened when browsing the net(twice) and when i did a virus scan(once)
Gfx card is running at 300hz @0.85mv

Would it be worth doing a windows repair?

Oh and out of those 3 times, 2 of em on 12.8

Event viewer showing quite a few errors, 3 critical which is what i'm on about here.
Kernel 41 is showing which i believe is, system stopped responding/Crashed or lost power unexpectedly.

124 error could be VTT voltage too.

Iv'e adjusted VTT voltage up and down many a time to try cure a 124 BSOD error code, to no effect. Only raising the vcore as cured it for me.

Allthough Op! It maybe worth giving the VTT voltage a little bump as it's also! been known to cure that error code in some cases.

So your saying it BSOD'S with that error code at stock Bios settings or when it's overclocked?

@stock bios settings, 1070/1400 although just running @ 300 core when browsing

But it is random and infrequent, although twice tonight, once when i left it for about an hour with a web page open, then i initiated a virus scan and it bsod at 28%

Temps are fine, have upped the fans whilst it's a bit warmer.

I'm kinda drawn to my psu being at fault, 5 years old now, if its not holding its voltage stable could this cause this problem??? Cpu has speedstep on, gfx in low power mode, so system not drawing much power, could this cause a type of stalling effect??? When both are in full speed i dont have a problem.

Your voltage set to what your rams rated at in Bios? Ram timings set to what your rams rated at in Bios? Try disabling power saving features in Bios for now and check if it still does it.

Other than that, im stumped! to whats causing it. Maybe somebody else will pop in with some ideas.

My voltage on ram is at 1.52 i think(on ipad at mo)
Have run system on prime for 8 hours and no problems
Gonna do a windows repair after work tommorow and see if that helps, even though i did a fresh install about a month ago!!

Thanks for your help geeman :o

I have had a BSOD on 12.8 and I'm not happy about it.
I have been using 12.1 because every release after that would give stupid errors in the event log every boot up fuel service failed to start did this 1 time or aoddriver4.1 can't find itself, I've been real ****ed at how many hours till 6am I spent EVERY driver release to mess around for a card I paid over $300 bucks for.

If you used and driver sweeper or TwL Cleaner you will f your windows dont do it.
Did you use a sweeper?
