Your feedback on the 170 Dual Core Opteron. A lot of reviews I have read is comparing the Opteron to the Dual Xeon or even higher. Also read reviews of near to the same output as a Dual Opteron 244+ (i think).

170 Dual Core Opteron 1MB cache/core
Dual Xeon 3Ghz 2MB cache/core 800MHZ bus

Im using 2 x 244's (CG). They're OK but do not clock well. 2.05 is my highest. I did have some 250's(E4), and they went about 10% too. Dual cores on the other hand are E6 stepping and I here are ok at 20+%. On server type boards there is little to do with overclocking the CPU, you can the memory though.
If its a toss up between the two, go AMD, the boards available include all the extras.
