my brothers xp is clocked up to 2.0ghz and i havnt really checked temps for about a year etc all temps are acceptable, but the xp 2000 is running at 52c idle, is this an ok temp, he also plays no games so i dont think it gets much strain except msn etc. this was my old chip and its been in the family for about 3 years now what a solid chip :p

That's fine

It's very likely that his chip has the Palamino core, notorious for running rather hot. 53 idle is great, especially in this weather

it is also overclocked to 2.0ghz

Not too bad considering the present temps as said before, people always worried about their XPs hitting 60C+ under load, never bothered me as i've seen quite a few OEM rigs touch 70C with default cooling and the machines are going strong still, i think even AMD stated 65C-ish load temp is expected.

If he doesnt game or use any power hungry apps, why bother overlcocking?
