well i'm jumping between this two processors and i really don't know what to buy.
Those CPUs are both for socket AM2 and as i said i don't know which one is better,so if you can help me at my choice than please do it!!
thank you! :)

Whats the price difference?

Also, is there a diff in cache size or is it just clock speed, are you gonna oc it and is your mobo any good for ocing.

The X2 3600+ is clocked the same as a 3800+ ( 2.0Ghz ) but only has 256kb cache per core instead of the 512Kb cache per core of the 3800+

It all depends on what you're using your PC for

The X2 3600+ is clocked at 2GHz with 256KB cache per core. The single core 3800+ is clocked at 2.4GHz with 512KB cache - this chip will be a fair bit quicker for single threaded applications due to it's 20% higher clock speed and having twice the cache

If you use multi-threaded applications, run a lot of intensive applications at once (eg playing a game and encoding at the same time) or plan to keep the CPU for a long time then get the X2 3600+

If not I'd seriously consider a single core 3800+ simply as for single threaded applications it'll be a fair bit quicker

Yeah i'd like to keep the CPU then for a longer time and i run a fue things at the same time, satelite internet,tv watching/recording,ripping music, video encoding, piture editing, some word, and from time to time a play a game and after all that i'd probably would be better with an 3600 X2 !!

I was under the impression they were both x2s?

That's not how I saw it as he said "X2" after the 3600+

If they were both X2s then the 3800+ would be the obvious choice, but, if not, then the 3600 will be better for his need

you are right the 3800 is a solo core and the 3600 would be the dual core !!
and i guess i will truest you in this and go for the 3600 !!
thanks mate!!
