Are the two cpu listed above the same apart from clock speeds because i am a bit confused  .

The reason why i ask is because i am upgrading and was wondering if i could save some cash and buy the 3800-x2 and overclock it myself upto the 4200-x2 speed, or is the 4200 -x2 that much better what i should stop being a tight sod and get that instead.

thx smiley

If overclocking the X2 3800+ is the wiser choice. Can reach FX62 speeds (2.8GHz) if I'm not wrong.

Money saved can go towards a good cooler like this ;)

On 939 the X2 3800+ and X2 4200+ are identical yup, except that the 4200+ has one higher multiplier to give it a 200 Mhz speed bump.

The X2 4400+ is the same clock speed as the X2 4200+ but with 1MB cache per core (compared to 512KB per core on the X2 3800+ and 4200+).
