hello all

My monitor is 'nvidia 3d vision ready'. I don't use 3D right now but do want to try it in the near future when I get a new graphics card.

I need to know though...are AMD GPU's compatiable with monitors that use 3d vision? I don't quite understand the technicalities and if it's just marketing or whatever. Hope it doesn't mean i'm forced to go nvidia.

The terms of NVIDIA's 3DVision ecosystem specifically blocks AMD graphics cards from working with these monitors. The protection is baked into the EDID of the display; 3D capabilities will not be exposed to a Radeon graphics card.

I assumed something liek this...thanks for clearing that up.

Beginning to dislike Nvidia but looks like i'm stuck with them and their monopoly. must research more in future :o

haha ok..can you elaborate on what you mean by rubbish though? It's just most of what i've read has been positive, only for single player/casual of course.

so what the deal with 'lightboost' then. I take it there's no 'hack' or whatever to get it to work with an amd card? why does it feel like amd are behind in the 3d area
