Just fitted a brand new AMD 4000 clawhammer bought from OCUK. Temp under load (nerverwinter nights 2) reaching 60 DEG C. Is this reasonable or too high? No overclock just stock. Any comments appreciated.

Retail package so stock fan. Would extra case fan help? what size? location?. Previous chip was a 3500 venice, temps were a little lower than now. Windows performance is better although 3d06 score has dropped slightly.

Picked it up in the clearance section £50 retail Thurs last week, didn't state the core though. Didn't have much joy ocing the 3500 with my board, wouldn't post at any higher than 2.34 no matter how low the HT or ram was set, so thought for £50 give a 4000 a go. What fan will fit for better cooling? and will this chip/core out perform a stock 3500?

Not sure about the make of case, sorry. Another question guys, I ran 3d mark 06 last night after fitting chip and got a score of 4209, ran 3d mark again tonight and only scored 3904. My previous chip, a 3500 venice managed a score of 4412. Any ideas why the drop in performance?

Speedy, is that with stock cooling? how's your performance in 3dmark06? have you clocked your chip? Sorry so many questions.

Thanks for the reply, I think I will try a small overclock to see how it goes with stock cooler before I replace it with an better fan/sink. My 3d mark scores have dropped from 4400 to 4200 to 3900 with no real explanation (rig as sig). Anyone got any ideas why?
