I brought a 480 a few months ago and i keep having an intermittent problem when playing games with the screen going black and after a few seconds and the picture comes back again. This keeps repeating with gaps between the screen going blank getting shorter and shorter. If i reboot the problem goes a way. I've removed and reinstalled all the drivers a few times but no joy. Any suggestion what causing it or what i can do to stop it.

Are you overclocking the card? Running higher voltages? Tried a different cable?

I get that on my 390's when I overclock them aggressively, I have to undervolt my cards to stop it happening. I was pulling my hair out for ages trying to figure out what was causing it, bought loads of different cables, tried different monitors etc, even got a replacement pump from overclockers which improved the issue massively, in the end just turns out I can't overclock them as high as I want.

You could try undervolting the card or dropping your clocks a little and see if the issue disappears.

There's many things which could cause this. With it being the RX480, I'm gonna guess it needs undervolting.

Is it a favtory overclocked model by any chance?

Some manufacturers sell these cards pre-overclocked, with no checks on stability.

Try undervolting , only thing is there is no definitive means of knowing . you'll judt gave to keepa using it, without knowing whether it us solved or not.

How frequent or any games which definitely triggered it so you know it would re-occure?

I get this too on my RX480, maybe a few times a week but not every day. I haven't OCed it but I had increased the power limit in wattman for a while before going back to stock settings. It was B-grade so can't say if it's never been OCed.

My 470 did it was returned found faulty, my 480 just failed for same thing but mine only did it on Netflix and YouTube and again found faulty. Send it back :(

I have a friend having the same issue, running at stock he gets black screen issues. A quick google and a lot of people have this but no suggestion of a solution...

At least it's not just me! I get it very occasionally but it doesn't come back on once it's gone black and I have to reboot. I can game for hours at a time and have days in between occurrences.
