Hi, I have the above processor sitting in an ASUS A8N-SLI M/B, with 2GB of RAM. Now, I'm planning to upgrade to VISTA soon, but I was thinking about upgrading to a C2D system, since I may get an additional 8800 graphics card (which is limited in SLI performance on the current m/b).
I could upgrade later, but that would mean reinstalling everything again.

Is it worth waiting? Can I get much return for the existing components?

Processor will proberly net you more.

I'd stick with what you have till you need to upgrade, as prices always change and new things come along, the longer you wait the better as you always stand to save more on the actual upgrade cost, though the downside is your current bits will be worth less.

Depends where you sell though really.

Personally that setup you have their is pretty hot, if you haven't really got the money ill say stick with the system you already have.

But if you have some money to blow, yeah why not Core 2 Duo is an excellent choice and will not disappoint you. :)

Definately worth waiting IMO, what is your gfx card though?

Edit: Do you think you need more performance? What do you use your system for, how much gain are you looking for?

Graphics card = 8800GTX

I could spend now and get the best there is, but I suppose it's better off waiting until there's a significant jump in technology.
