I have 2 x HTPC's in my home specs below:

bedroom (rarely used)
Amd 5350
AM1I-A
4GB DDR3
HDD

living room (used 5-6 hours daily)
intel g3258 (not oc'd)
8gb DDR3
msi H81I
SSD

I've often considered swapping the systems and the ssd / hdd as the amd uses cpu less power.

will the amd 5350 be as snappy as the intel system for HD playback/browsing/unraring with an SSD?

The 5350 is a greeat cpu for general useage with an SSD, used to have one myself and couldn't tell the difference between that and my i7 rig when browsing the web.

I have an a4 4000 which is comparible to your cpu and It can handle HD video just fine. Yours actually has a slightly better IGP.

HD playback is fine but 4k resolution it struggles well on you tube anyway, Its believe its something to do with driver issues
and internal coded inside the Integrated Graphics.

The AMD 5350 Kabini cores are about a quarter of the performance of the Pentium cores so snappiness will depend largely on if what you're experiencing is a CPU or HDD bottleneck. The A4 4000 Richland cores are also a lot better than Kabini.

The A4 is only duel core.
