Is this a worthy upgrade? I have no issues playing games and the AMD CPU appears to be very good. I've been looking at many reviews of the Intel chip & to what I have read so far it appears not worth it. The only reason I wanted to upgrade was I had some issues with stability due to the Asus x470 not liking the memory. This issue has now been sorted with a recent bios update but I'm still thinking about a change back to intel.

current system

ASUS X470 prime pro
AMD 5600X
Artic freezer 34 Esports Duo
32GB ADATA DDR4 3200
Nvidia RTX 3070 TI Founders
Samsung Evo 860 1TB
Samsung Evo 970 500gb NVME
EVGA 650w modular psu

No it's not at all a worthy upgrade. Surely you can think of something better to spend several hundred quid on?

Would be easier to upgrade to a 5700X or 5800X, but would only do that if you don't plan on upgrading again for a long time. Maybe the 5700X, which will be released soon and probably won't run much hotter than your current CPU.

There's a lot of reasons to wait for Zen 4 /AM5 as this should offer several years of upgrades.

Raptor Lake / Intel's 13th gen is apparently DDR5 only (except on current Alder Lake boards), so not much reason to recommend that as an option.
