So on my last build i decided to give amd a shot and bought an amd sapphire 5700xt pulse rather than an nvidia card, to say i should have remained faithful to nvidia is an understatement, i like my card but hate the amd software so much, and the drivers. So my question is (and i am no expert here) what nvidia card is the equivalent or better than the amd 5700xt pulse, i was looking a few months ago at a 3080, but i only play 1 game and that is dayz and i thought Mmmm a lot of money for 1 game maybe a 3070 would do.

what do you guys suggest i get??

What resolution do you play at?

What is the rest of your system like? PSU up to scratch?

Do you have a set budget in mind?

Off the top of my head without looking at current prices, maybe the 3060/3060Ti will be the card to get. Depends on other factors, though.

i play at 1440p
psu is well above what i need, cpu is ryzen5 3600 budget wise less than 4 figures am a tight geordie

The equivalent in performance is more like a 3060, a 3080 is a lot faster. The 3060 Ti is the minimum I'd get for gaming at 1440p. But, in the current market the prices of everything are awful.

I wouldn't bother getting a new card TBH. What don't you like about the software? How often do you go into adrenalin to do things?

That’s a bit bizarre OP. I’ve had both nvidia and amd cards. What do you hate about the drivers.

whats wrong with the software ? I used to own 5700xt sapphire nitro+ now on 3080 and actually liked the software and enjoyed using the tuning feature to undervolt never gave me any issues once set I forgot about it I do remember they had bad rap while back with issues I myself never experienced that, what features of the drivers you hate ? you dont need to look at them when you just start playing games ?

Its a pet hate of wattman it keeps crashing and resetting the fan curves, if i could just get over that i would be happy. So if anyone has any suggestions for getting the fan curve right i would be forever grateful

is this stock performance. is anything else in your system overclocked? You can save the settings can you not. when does it crash?

tried DDU to uninstall the drivers and reinstalling the latest drivers ? also what are rest of the system specs ?

If you're happy with the performance of the 5700 XT then the 3060 would match it's performance with the addition of DLSS and RTX.

If the 5700 XT is too slow then get the 3070 or above.

Although I have to disagree with your reasons for changing. You mentioned your hate for the AMD software but Nvidia control panel looks very dated like it was designed in the 90s. The Nvidia drivers eat CPU cycles because it's so poorly optimised. AMD don't have those issues and the software is very nice in my opinion.

The reason to buy Nvidia is for the performance and features because it's very good. But Nvidia are bad at the things that you hate AMD for.

As already stated, uninstall your drivers and reinstall if you're having issues.

cheers for all the replies, have just gone down the ddu road (not done for a long time) uninstalled afterburner reinstalled adrenalin with latest software and drivers, also undervolted the card a little and will see how it goes from there. Have not reinstalled afterburner
my pc is as follows

MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX (Socket AM4) DDR4 ATX Motherboard
ryzen5 3600
be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 CPU Cooler
5700xt pulse
Kingston HyperX Predator RGB 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-25600C16 3200MHz Dual Channel Kit
power supply be quiet! Straight Power 11 650W 80 Plus Gold Modular Power Supply
Samsung 500GB 860 EVO SSD 2.5" SATA 6Gbps 64 Layer 3D V-NAND Solid State Drive x2

I find my performance tuning in the Radeon control panel only resets with a crash, and usually that was the result of an unstable undervolt in my case (or unstable CPU tweaks, I guess because overclocking and monitoring of both can now be done in the software). I'd definitely try more work to try and get it stable before a sidegrade, although the 5700XT still fetches a good amount and would cover an equivalent/slightly faster Nvidia card if you manage to get an FE.

Also you can save the profile if it does crash you can load it backup quickly , I had to do this when I first was trying to find stable undervolt settings , after that I just had it load up automatically on start up and forgot about it , now owning nvidia card I do miss the AMD drivers to me they looked more polished not really a big deal not like you need to be looking at them all the time what I really liked was is that I could set clocks / fan curves within it

Now I have to use MSI afterburner
