Now I just updated my drivers today and it could purely be because 99% of the time AMD drivers always ruins everything for me.

But am getting these strange artifacts on steam and sometimes chrome will flicker and such.

Am 99.9% sure its freesync glitching out as I run BF1 at 120fps with freesync on and its flawless..

Any insight would be great.

Freesync doesn't create such glitches.
That looks like VRAM overheating issue. Do you run the card overclocked? Do you run DDU to wipe out the drivers?

Card is stock, Don't overclock it. Pretty beefy cooler on it . But it never does it when gaming, Like ever. I push really high end games on it and never get these glitches, Only on stuff like chrome or steam. Thats about it...

Have you used DDU to uninstall drivers and put the latest ones?

I would start by using DDU from safe mode. If you see these glitches in safe mode or in the PC system BIOS then the GPU has failed.

How can it fail when its scoring higher in firestrike than a 1060 overclocked heavily. Its legit only happening on the simplistic of things. Could it just be trash AMD drivers?

Seems more like an issue running 2D clocks, most likely the VRAM not getting enough voltage at that speed. Run a GPU stress test in windowed mode when it happens, does the artifacts go away?

The problem is I rolled back drivers once again and I can't get it to reappear on steam.

A failing GPU Vram wont effect the performance of the GPU. It just wont render correctly. It "might" just be a driver bug but from my experience these type of render issue are a result of a GPU failing and it will only get worst.

If thats the case then perhaps I should have kept my 1060 :C

If it happens again I'll send it back for a refund and grab another 1060. Too much hassle if its a faulty GPU!

For now its gone after reverting back to old drivers, Pretty sure its AMD drivers. Will report back if it occurs again but so far so good!

I doubt is anything to do with AMD’s drivers, they are rock solid, better than NVIDIA’s right now, I’m afraid your GPU is failing, I had this exact problem with my old gtx670, in games it was flawless, but in Windows I kept getting these graphical errors, I learned to live with as my games worked without issues, but after roughly 9 months it got worse and then eventually I started noticing BF3 artifacting, and Skyrim became unplayable even skyrims loading screen was artifacting

I suggest RMA’ing asap, it may save you time, trouble and ultimately money in the future

Out of curiosity, why do so many people on this forum have a hardon for DDU?

I have NEVER used this when I update my drivers and simply run express install from the installation package.

I've never had any issues doing it this way and was wondering why it gets mentioned repeatedly on here to use DDU.

I normally never use DDU, but sometimes the install fails or part of a old driver that is left behind can screw up the new install so then you might need to use DDU.

Same, i just run the drivers uninstaller from Programs & Features, then install the new'uns, never a prob, i don't get all this DDU lark, ive read in the past about people using it, then not being able to get any drivers at all on, this, that and the other, so had to reinstall Windows.

I'm pretty sure they both have a 'clean install' option that removes the driver completely before installing it fresh after a restart.
