AMD 6000+

Hi all

Some advise please, i have a AMD6000 with a factory clock of 3.1 (65nm Brisbane core) now i have it at 3.3 with the bus up to 220 with a x15

1. i read some where to try keep the HT link as close to 1000 as possible mines at 1100 how can chnage it without effecting speed or should just not worry about this?

2. temp have hit 55c at heavy load 20c at idle (using a big after maket cooler) core voltage shows as 1.440 can i bring down the voltage to get the temps down im trying to get 3.4 stable

hi there, i have the 90nm version so my temps and voltage should be higher then yours.

I've managed to over clock 300mhz to 3.3 solid stable. The voltage i've used is 1.4 and im doing this on the
Asus M3A32-MVP Delux (790FX chipset)

hmm thanks mate cpu-z says it runing 1.44 core temp just says 1.400 any ideas how low it can go or what to start with decreasing it? if i do it to low will it still boot?

I believe if you take it down a little bit at a time, it will eventually not boot into windows. So then you know to raise it back up.

Or a better way would be to take it down the littlest bit you can and then stress test it for a few hours.

What Mobo do you have?

oh i see so it will let me get to the bios then that was my main worry if i went to low, my mobo is a Asus M2N-SLi Deluxe old but not bad

I should image so, but please seek other advice aswell, as i am only a beginner in overclocking. But take it step by step and test everytime.

Where did you pick up this 65nm chip?

it was not here was fomr another well know web site not sure if i can post other sites lol, but any way they only had 5 in stock for £55 bargin imo the next day they wen to £75 then never seen them since

no mate im using a Scythe Ninja-CU Full Copper Heatsink with 120mm Fan Limited Edition, going to build a E8600 with water cooling after xmas so 3.3 -3.4 should be ok for 6 months or so, thanks again

HT link of 1100 should not make any difference to stability.

Well my HT link is at 1100, why do i also remember reading that it should be as close to 1000 as possible?

Im not being nasty lol im just after advice aswell.

Update well i have taken the core voltage down my mother bored is set to 1.3375 but CPU-Z say 1.376 dont know which one is more accurate.

i think the BIOS would be best to trust. Sometimes i believe CPUz to be a bit clunky.

If it was the other way around you could say the answer was VDroop?

well 220 x 15 gives me 3.3Ghz with a VC of 1.3375

I ran 2 mem tests with no errors and both cores at 100% temp dont go over 44c with core temp 99.3 however Orthos last about 30 sec and spits out errors, i really dont undertand memory oc could that be problem or will more voltage make this stable?

More Vcore needed on ther CPU.

Thanks mate tried going up went to 1.475 but temps started knocking on 60+ which was my MAX and the chip pretty much, think ill just give and wait till i build my E8600 build.
My house is pretty warm so doest help matter ph well 3.2 seems to work fine so ill stay there for a bit.

So it was unstable all the way upto 1.475 ?

Im sure 1.425 would have been enough.

well its only unstable in orthus it only last 3 min are then gets an error i can play 8hrs of warhammer online while surfing the web no problems at all at 220x15 @ 1.4v, could it be a memory prob maybe at 5-5-5-18 not that means anything to me lol
