AMD 64 Dual Core Cooler

This rather large standard cooler came with mine (click thumbnail pic to enlarge) and havent used it since i have decent enough Akasa aftermarket 64 dual/single core cooler. Tempted to give this a try, however are they anygood coz they certainly look the part? :cool:

Looks totally different to my dual core 4400X2 cooler. Mine has four heatpipes and a 8cm fan.

Well its got four heat-pipes if you include the 2 other side that cant be seen in the pic, no idea on fan size as not measured.

The cooler that came with my 4200+ was just a standard no heatpipe aluminium job :confused:

Only 4400 and above get heatpipe coolers.

My mate got this same cooler with his opty 165 and he is very pleased with it. He actually prefers it over his previous AKASA EVO 120.

Hmm that's interesting to know as the EVO 120 is what i own

I'd try the stock heatpipe cooler then, see if you have the same result as my mate. He claimed it's actually a few C lower than the evo 120, but I said to him that he must have done something wrong.

his opty is setting at 2.66Ghz atm.

One core hits 50c the other 47c with this stock cooler with no O/C, not upto my Evo120's standards even with AS-5 paste so its going back in the box. Was worth a try i guess, looks nice but thats all...

I got the same one too with a recent opteron 165 purchase
