I noticed an article on wired.com (link) about the AMD64 X2 6000+ edition being available on newegg.com and it also states that it is supposed to ship Feb 20th.... so will OcUK be stocking this beast?

I take it this'll be AM2 only? :( that could be a nice upgrade for my gaming rig, then use the 4400x2 in the htpc, sell off the 3700.

$700 will get you the socket AM2 processor, which offers 256KB of L1 Cache, 2MB of L2 Cache and is built on the 90nm Windsor core. Furthermore, it might well render unnecessary your home's central heating system.

:D

correct me if I am wrong, but isn't that the same speed as the FX62, but the 6000+ has double L2 Cache (2meg), so would be faster then FX62 and cheaper

And has 2x 128k L1 cache as opposed to 2x 64k.

FX62 has 2mb L2 cache too. Also the fx62 runs at 2.8ghz whereas this runs at 3Ghz. So it's faster but with the same L2 cache.

TBH I can't see it clocking very well as it's 90nm and will likely produce more than enough heat at stock. Hopefully see some better clocks with the 65nm chips though.

From what I've seen the current 65nm chips don't clock that great either. Wouldn't expect these to overclock much more either as AMDs 90nm cores are near the limit.
