Hi. I have being recommened the amd 6850 for home cinema and also playing a few games from time to time.

I dont need low profile as i have a full tower.

The games i play are c&c generals and red alert 2/3.

Has anyone got one of these carda and are they good enough for wat i need it for.

Just a nite. I will be using a 60" plasma. Also upgrading ram and cpu to 8gb and quad 965be.

Any feedback would be great. Thank you.

I have one myself. Which edition are you getting? I have the single fan MSI one which sound like a 747 on take off.

I have chucked every RTS game I own at is including Geneals and Red Alert and it doesnt bat and eyelid at high settings.

Hi i dont know which model. I have seen that msi one and i have seen another one that has 2 huge fans on it.

The sound of the fan wont bother me ss i watch things in style lol.

Im glad i can run them at high. But generals 2 is getting releasd this year. Will the 6850 be strong enough for that?

Im waiting for Generals 2 myself ;)

But I can also pretty much max our Shogun 2 and modern RTS's like that so shouldn't be too much of am issue. I'd be more worried about the CPU than GPU in RTS's.

I have a similar setup at home,

Phenom II x4 960t, 8gb ram, Sapphire 6870. I don't really need to play games with it but it can handle the majority of things on High Settings, pushing ultra every so often with acceptable frames.

Sounds good then on the games side of it. But what about surround sound and media performancw?
does anyone use it for home cinema?

I'm still using a 6850 from asus, and with only a mild overclock it eats up the likes of BF3 and Skyrim on High/Ultraish settings, really good card.

For Home Cinema use I can only assume it'll be good since people use low profile cards such as a GT610 for that type of stuff.
