AMD 6870 running through 27" 2560x1440 iMac Display

Hi All,

would this work because i use my imac for music/photos/videos etc but i got a nice pc for gaming and i would love to be able to use this screen to game on.

Doesn't look like it. Looks like you can only do displayport to mini displayport

In an ideal setup I'd have an full spec 27" iMac & PS3 connected via HDMI to Mini-DP

Perhaps if your GFX has HDMI you can get a little converter box.

How would that work if the article states that you can't even connect a macbook pro to the imac screen via dp - hdmi - dp?

Go on youtube, xbox & ps3 being connected via those converters? No reason why a gfx card with an HDMI output couldn't do the same?

If the 6870 has mini dp outputs, you just need a mini dp cable and it'll work fine.

I use a shuttle with Mac graphics in it don't game but 24" acd works great on it..

Its been confirmed to work over on the Hardocp forums where there is a LONG thread on using the 27" imac as a display for other devices
