AMD 6990 OVERHEATING MADNESS ?

im surprised malwarebytes found it,it didn't find the one I had

can recommend stopzilla if its still there, that fixed mine

was going to say - almost had to be either a Trojan or some program just accidently running the GPU @ high amounts

reason being is that you mentionned elevated temps in the room

if something went wrong with the heatsink, fans, TIM etc - yes it would get hotter - but the amount of "heat" output to the room, PC case etc - would be the same - therefore it had to be that the GPU was working harder

Some of the virus scanners got caught out because mining software is legit software if you install it and want to mine. However, if it's installed without your knowledge or consent and the trojan is effectively stealing your GPU resources, then it's malware.

And yes, you want to get rid of all the stuff labelled Trojan.bitcoinminer. The name gives it away. ;)

BINGO :D:D:D

Guess what ?

yes, it was that damn Trojan/virus thingy coinminer, mannnnnnnn, that's been driving me nuts for 2 days now, lol

And yes, I got the pro version of Malwarebytes and it took the infections away straight away, but with the free version they will come back again, so you need the pro version to stop them attacking, I am proof of this.

Soon as I got the pro version and therefore had 24/7 constant protection I could see that program bouncing that bitcoinminer thing nearly instantly as it tried to keep coming back, in the end I have just turned off the notification bubble that tells you its doing that as its a pain, but I can bet they are all sitting in quarantine just now for sure !!

Is there a way just to get the program just to stop them before they even get added to quarantine, anyone know ?

And thanks again so much guys, I know this must have came from a stupid download or something, but It has been driving me nuts and not to mention ready to set my graphics card on Fire, this is defo by far the worst every attack I have had on my computer easily !!!

I read up about that type of Trojan/virus etc firstly and seen its actually a BotNet which in turn connects right across the world to millions of computers, so I thought ok ok, lets see if the guys here are correct and the things on the internet are correct and sure as can be, I disconnected my internet connection from my PC and rebooted and the PC and graphics card was fine, so I knew right there and then that you guys were spot on and also the info on the internet too, but without you guys I wouldn't have known any of this at all.

So again, all I can do is praise and thank you, cheers, have a beer on me :D

Glad you got it sorted :) Friend of mine rang me 20 mins ago with a similar issue directed him to this thread and yip turns out hes got it aswell.
Big thank you to all the Above guys from him

It shouldn't keep coming back unless it hasn't been cleaned properly. I have seen one kit where the main detected trojan miner was constantly reinstalled/restarted by another trojan process if you killed it off. In this case you need to get rid of the miner and the restarter process.

I had the pro too and I couldn't shift it,it kept re installing itself

Only thing that worked was stopzilla,it deleted it and stopped it coming back

@ STEAMPUNK, I think the idea is to connect the internet, get your updates (on pro version) then disconnect the internet and run a full scan, after that reboot and start the internet again and then use malwarebyte rootkit, update that too as it will probably need updated and then run a full scan using that and that's it, after that you can tweak the settings to suit, personally I had to do quite a lot of reboots and internet on/off etc etc etc etc before it seemed to really stick and clear, with just the free version though you will just keep getting problems the way I see it, hope that makes sense, LOL

P.S
THANKS AGAIN ALL YOU GUYS, BRILLIANT :)

In the ideal world, you don't boot off the infected drive. You stick it in another machine as a secondary drive and run scans from a clean drive. Or even just boot off a clean USB or DVD rescue disc. That way whatever trojan/virus you have isn't running, isn't in the running OS, and can't defend itself from being wiped.

yea true I suppose mate, infact I have just deleted a shortcut from my desktop screen that the main folder for is in a backup drive for downloads etc, suppose best to keep detached, lol, cheers mate :)

ok guys, tried malwarebytes (just the fast scan option), it found these, do any of these look like the culprit ?

I haven't removed anything yet as I don't want to remove something that I maybe shouldn't, please let me know.

Thanks again guys :)

MALWAREBYTES.png

is there a way to stop this stupid bitcoinminer so that it doesn't even get to my computer because every time I switch the computer/internet on Malwarebytes tells me that it has blocked it over and over and over again every single day ?

Anyone know ?

p.s
and yes I have the programme set to run when windows boots (the pro version of malwarebytes).

its good that I do have the fix now with you guys helping me but it would be handy to block this for good without even seeing it, you know what I mean ?

Cheers :)

Click remove selected reboot etc as asked then unless you redownload/goto where you got it from the 1st place i wouldn't think it should repop?
I'd guess if it has to reblock it soon as you turn the computer back on its still on a HDD/SSD somewhere

hmmm, cheers mate, don't quite understand that as if I tell it to stop booting with windows then I wont be protected all the time.

Put it this way, if I switched that option off I am nearly 90% sure that soon as I switch the computer/internet on then I would be infected again, know what I mean mate ?

I understand that you say it might still be hanging about in the computer but I am telling this programme to remove this threat on full scans of all drives etc, its a BotNet Trojan, so therefore I think it comes directly from the internet, maybe they have my ip address, I don't know man, its the worst ever Trojan/virus I have ever came across in my life, thank god though that this programme is holding it back though, that's the main thing, I would prefer a total bounce on it though if you know what I mean ? ;)

I know what you mean,But i dont know how how it would re infect like that so i'll join you in waiting for someone much smarter than me to answer so we can all learn :)
