AMD 69XX delayed officially ?

So what about the 6990 is this expected at the same time as the 6970?

Do we think these cards will run cool or will they be hot and noisy like the Nvidia cards until they get custom coolers?

I've skipped a lot of this thread so may have missed it, but do we know how the 6970 & 6990 will compare to the Nvidia 580?

The 6990 will be sometime early next year and it's rumoured that the 6970 will have a fairly high power requirement, maybe almost as much as the 580.

I was gonna treat myself but don't know if I can wait that long!

Also doesn't sound good that they use a lot of power, guessing this'll mean a lot of heat which will be bad if you stick 2 of the GPUs on one board.

i would guess it would be 2x 6870s

Well it's got to be 2x6950/70, noway is it 2x6870, that's not much faster than a 5970.

According to the leaked AMD slides they are 2 x Caymans. I bet they are downclocked 6970s.

BUT you can allways watercool and put back to what they should be

Oh it's always nice to see that once again the new Radeon cards have more shaders than their rumours suggested*. Didn't see that one coming.

*the 4870 was at one point rumoured to only have 480 shaders (and curiously, a separate shader clock domain), the 5870 1200 shaders and now this.

no same length board. The two lips on the 5870 will make even longer than 6970.

I am hoping the 6950 will be around 200-250 and have a nice jump in performance to the 5850!

3100 million triangles per second, which means the 6970 should be half of that, maybe a bit higher since it will probably have higher clocks since it's a single card.
