AMD 69XX delayed officially ?

I doubt it, 6970's rumoured specs should put it at least at 580 performance. When you compare a 6870 to a 5870 and see how they improved efficiency, it's obvious a cayman GPU with the same improvements and a higher shader count is going to be pretty powerful. If it doesn't at least match a 580, it's a fail.

Rumoured. Nvidia have shown their card why can't AMD give us the specs.

If it's to do with the 580, I'd suspect they've realised there's no rush as it's nothing special, or something along those lines. £400 graphics cards don't sell very well regardless of who makes them anyway.

OCUK showing 10 left.
Out of 100 according to Gibbo.
They sold ok.

One reason - bar 'real' delay - I can think of is that they have heard Nvidia wont have more shipments of the 580 before the same week. In fact, quickly checking OCUK shows 12th on the etas. Edit: scratch that, I'm used to working on the American date system. Eta is for tomorrow on more 580s!

Take off your green goggles.
At the lowest rumored spec it'd make the 6970 faster.

No, you really don't.
AMD needed the 6950 out.

No, I really do, the 5970 has been "competing" with the GTX480 for some time, even the 5870 for those who wanted similar performance but for a lower cost. I don't think you understand just how many people buy top top end cards. The price bracket the 6800s occupy is far more important.

90 cards isn't a high number. The mind range cards sell by the hundreds of thousands, if not millions.

Kyle, the 5970 is EOL, OCUK have what, one massively overpriced SKU?

EDIT : I'm sorry right, but as much as I like AMD, I can't stand the biased opinions frm Kylew.
And I'd take a 460 at the price as opposed the overpriced 68XX series, at least, if I bought Nvidia and had SLI.

Graphics cards... serious business!!!111!!1!11!!one

I'm logging off now to to enjoy a game which is what graphics cards are actually for, I predict this topic will be eleventy billion pages long tomorrow filled with the same old predictable crap that no one actually reads other than the posters stuck in the same old arguments from the same old predictable people, dont disapoint!

2/3rds of those were £420-430. And the £400rrp was £25-30 higher than the American $500 one to begin with strictly speaking. £50 gouge on 60 odd cards in one week from one etailer isnt too shabby.

Only thing is, two weeks doesn't let you fix yield issues to be honest. But it does let you reflash a bunch of cards.

I would go along with this, 6970 will have the jump on the 480 but the 580 put a spanner in AMD's works, so now they go and flash all their 69** cards with higher clocks to try and get some gains over the 580, no point going on rumored spec either.
