Hello!

I'm looking to upgrade my current AMD 7970 Ghz Edition to something more powerful, I am open to suggestions from the AMD side and Nvidia side of things.

I was looking at a GTX980 or 970; Though I am not sure.

The games I play are:

World of Warcraft
DOOM
ARK: Survival Evolved
and much more.

I'm looking to play these games on medium to high graphics settings. My current spec is:

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4670K CPU @ 3.40GHz
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB - DDR3 - 1866mhz
OS: Microsoft Windows 10 (build 10586), 64-bit

Thanks in advance!

Just wait a little while longer and see how good Polaris turns out too be. You might get >970 performance for less money.

It's supposed to be early June but I think it could be into July or August when we see them. Your 7970 should be running doom really well is it not?

Should be getting 40fps plus, even on ultra, going by tests I've seen. I assume this is at a sane resolution, not 4K!Tried different drivers?

In answer though, yeah I wouldn't go for anything less than a 970 at this stage, and definitely would wait for the new Pascal cards if you can.

Also OP, I assume you're not aware the GTX 1070 is available to buy on the 11th of June?

It should be about £30 cheaper than the GTX 980 while also being about 40-50% faster (around 980 Ti and Titan X performance).

So if I were you I'd wait to see what AMD's Polaris 10 cards are like, and then either buy a Polaris 10 or GTX 1070 around the 11th of June.

I have a 7970 and play at 1080p. Not had any problems with games.

Waiting for 1070 and then will upgrade to the next best option.
