***i made a mistake in the title - replace oc with custom***, sorry

I don't want to link anything or mention company names but a company who has alien logos allow you to spec the new 8-series gpus in their desktop range. Interestingly the price for the 8990 is £700 over the base choice (gtx 760). In comparison, the 780 is £400 over the base choice and the 8950 is 200 over the base choice.

I know one can't extrapolate the actual rrp from this but to me it says the 8990 will be up there in terms of price. Don't know if there is an 8970 or indeed if the 8990 is the dual gpu of the 8-series gpus. I imagine if an 8970 exists it will be between the £450-500 region.

At first I thought said company are being dumb and confused the 7990 with the new 8-series gpus, but they specifically mention in the promo stuff that these are the new gen AMD gpus.

As above they are just oem 7 series cards

Them there aliens are a complete rip off but we all new that.

OC's sub £500 for a 7990.

edit: plus remember that they aren't going to be 9970 ect as AMD are changing the designations.

Ah I see thanks. So the 8-series is essentially being skipped and the new GPUs coming out in Oct by AMD will all be 9-series?

Yep.

There will be a press event on an aircraft carrier in Hawaii on the 25th of this month, just over 2 weeks away. Specs and benchies should come from that, either direct from AMD or leaked. The cards themselves will PROBABLY be available in October but too much is unknown to say for sure.
