Amd 940 in my board?

I'm thinking of getting one of these http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=3492 to put in my pc, my board is this http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/CPUSupport_Model.aspx?ProductID=2874 and will take the cpu but my problem is my bios is FA and the cpu needs it to be FB.

2 questions, will it work ok without flashing the bios and if not what are the risks of doing so?

It maybe cheaper to get one of the newer AM3 CPUs as they will work fine in your motherboard too.

Flashing a BIOS is not a problem usually. Using windows utilities can be risky though when compared to using a floppy disc or a USB flash drive.

Anyway your motherboard has some protection against a bad BIOS flash as it has a Virtual Dual BIOS according to the webpage of the motherboard.

Thanks for the reply, i take it updating the bios isn't needed then.
