Hi

I am changing sockets (currently on an oldie 9700k LGA1151) and buying most of the PC parts while only keeping few of the old ones.

Build:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 9600X
  • CPU Cooler: be quiet! Pure Rock 2 Black
  • Motherboard: MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI ATX AM5
  • Storage: Samsung 990 Pro 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe SSD
  • Video Card: Zotac AMP Extreme GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8 GB
  • Memory: Corsair Vengeance 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30
  • Case: be quiet! Pure Base 500DX ATX Mid Tower

The usage will be primarily for multimedia and 4K gaming @60hz.

CPU: I am OK with the choice given the 4K gaming element, I feel this is currently the best bang for the buck (excluding the X3D ones ofc).

MOBO: Done my research on VRMs, it seems like a solid choice even if I was to upgrade to say a 9800X3D in the future. I am open to alternative suggestions if anyone feels this is overkill or there's better ones out there around the 150-170 GBP range(ATX only). Any more than that seems excessive for my situation.

Cooler: I currently have the previous generation Pure Rock from beQuiet! which I am happy with, I looked at Thermalright alternatives but they appear (?) to be noisier. I am basically looking to choose between this one, Thermalright or Noctua.

Memory: I believe this CL30 kit is the best bang for the buck at 6000mhz based on my research, but open to recommendations here too.

Storage: Best bang for the buck performance-wise ?

Video card: Keeping the existing one, well aware this is the obvious bottleneck for 4K gaming but will upgrade this in the future.

PSU: Keeping the old one, don't have a need for a different one.

Case: Currently rocking a Fractal Design Focus G , the beQuiet! one seems like a good alternative for airflow and quietness. It also has filters which are easy to clean which is another big thing for me. I need an ATX capable case with front fans (do not fancy the side ones), open to suggestions here too for a similar looking one.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks Tetras!

Cooler: I automatically assumed Pure Rock does not support AM5 hence why I was looking for a new one. After digging deeper on the subject, I tend to lean towards Thermalright as everyone keeps praising them even for quietness. I am looking at either Thermalright Peerless Assassin 140 Black or Thermalright Frost Spirit 140 BLACK, they both seem to be a solid choice?

SSDs: Could you please elaborate a bit more here? For PCIe Gen4 the Samsung 990 and WD 850x seem to be the best I could find that also have DRAM. Are there any models you would recommend instead?

MOBO: Ty for the recommendation but PCI-E 5.0 and USB4 are currently not of interest given we do not yet have affordable hardware for that and the mobo is currently around 220 GBP which is more than I'd like to pay for. The Tomahawk might be the choice in the end, I have given up comparing 50 models which not many differences between them (when considering the 14 + 2 +1 VRM models)
