Hey

I started monitoring my temps tonight using core temp as i'm looking to get a cooler so I was curious as to what my standard temps are with standard cooler

I'm curious as to whether 54C max temp during 2 hours'ish of MOH single player is anything to be concerned about?
It seems quite high seeing as though the room is ambient temp, I have an antec 902 case which is well built with barely any wires on show and the MOH single player isnt exactly the most graphically intensive game

Thanks

The temps on my 965 using stock were higher than that so you are doing fine.

I fitted a Thermolab Baram with one 120mm fan in push and my idle temp is 24c now and after several hours gaming never goes above 40c.

Though these figures were about 28/48 at the height of our "summer".

I certainly wouldn't worry about those temps mate. I changed mine as my temps were much higher on stock, crap case at the time, and the noise when the fan really spun up.

Edit: so if noise/current temps not an issue don't worry, but would think about changing if you were going to do some overclocking?

I should point out as well that my case, an Antec 300, is currently bereft of front intake fans. I would imagine the temps would drop a touch more once they are sorted out.

I highly recommend the Baram.

I wouldn't trust that temp either, the max temp is the temp the CPU reaches when you stress test the CPU for a few hours. Try running Prime95 for 2 hours or more and see how high it goes then. :P

I never even used the stock cooler on mine, it's tiny!

I dont see the point in stress tests as the most stressed it will ever get is in game so gaming is my version of a stress test but I see your point

The Baram requires a back plate I think? I need a cooler that doesnt such as the Arctic Freezer Pro 7 as I really cant be doing with removing the motherboard and rebuilding the PC just because of the fan noise

TBH mate, I think you are much better biting the bullet and fitting something with a backplate in the long run. Opens up the coolers available and you'll really start to see the temps drop.

Also, the right TIM can knock a few degrees off as well.

Cool i'm happy with the temps now from doing a lot of reading today and these replies but I still want to replace the cooler because of the noise

I cant go for the Freezer because it would seem its no good cooling this processor and its not worth me stripping the PC to its bare bones to fit a cooler that requires a back plate, I spent a lot of time doing a clean install, I really regret not getting one from the off. Lesson learned I suppose
